# Counting

The [`SEARCH.COUNT`](/docs/redis/commands/search/search-count) command returns the number of documents matching a query without retrieving them.

You can use `SEARCH.COUNT` for analytics, pagination UI (showing "X results found"),
or validating queries before retrieving results.
